Preparing for College
High School Juniors
Fall:
Scholarship Research- begin to review dates and eligibility
Understand what degree you want to pursue
Understand what type of career you are interested in
Take the SAT or ACT
Spring:
Begin taking college tours
Build relationships with your teachers for future recommendations
Retake the SAT or ACT (if needed)
Volunteer or join student clubs (Leadership roles are great)
Begin applying for scholarships
High School Seniors
Fall:
Apply for scholarships
Apply to your top schools
Retake the SAT or ACT if needed
Ask your teachers for recommendations
Request unofficial copies of your transcripts
Complete the FAFSA (open in October annually)
Spring:
Check your email for application decisions (at least daily)
Apply for scholarships
Take campus visits- Open House/ Preview Day/ Scholarship Luncheons, etc.
Confirm with the school you select
Register for New Student Orientation
College Transfers
Fall:
Apply for scholarships and funding
Apply to your top schools
Ask your professors for recommendations
Request unofficial copies of your transcripts
